Hop on, reach destination, hop off. Repeat. Your regular yacht ride is perhaps beginning to feel like just another commute.
But why should it be? Your boat is your personal space, and every minute you spend onboard is time away from marathon meetings, chaotic urban life and unending traffic jams.
So, use your time onboard to take in the fresh air, enjoy new sights and get a feel of life on the water. What’s more, based on your interests, you can increase the fun factor on your yacht rides. Here are some suggestions to get you started.
Host a party
Whether a birthday or graduation, celebrate with friends on your yacht. Stock up on cold drinks, cocktails and finger foods, then hop on to your yacht with close friends. While you catch up with them, head to a nearby port or town, where you could walk around and explore, stop for lunch or indulge at a spa.
Fishing and angling
Fishing and angling are known to be tremendously calming activities, but they can be very exciting when you get friends and family along. Besides, fishing serves a double bonus– you can store your catch of the day in an ice box and take it home to grill or barbeque.
If you’re a water baby, consider water sports to brighten up your yacht ride. You could swim or snorkel (depending on weather and other conditions), or, if you are the adventurous kinds, you can consider wake boarding. All you need to do is invest in the right gear, practise a few short rounds, then enjoy a splashing ride.
Enjoy your hobby
Whether you’re a book lover, amateur photographer or ardent birder, use your time onboard to reach your hobby goals. You can finish off the latest novel, take pictures of flora and fauna and passing villages, or try to spot and identify new birds.
Bond with family
Away from the television and other distractions, your boat ride is a wonderful excuse to spend quality time with your family. While you could just settle down for a long chat, you can also play family-centric board games, dumb charades or checkers. Also try capturing memories of your yacht rides by shooting a family video.
Whether you’re in the yacht alone or with someone, you can get some much-needed “me time”. Once onboard, leave your worries behind. After all, it’s a great opportunity to unwind, with some deep breathing exercise or a glass of red wine. You could watch the sunset or marine life, or peek at the stars late evening through a telescope.
